Ishmeet Singh, a young boy from Ludhiana used to suffer from stage fear in his childhood. The fear was overcome after he sang in front of a huge crowd in the Delhi Audition of
Star Voice of India. He was a true fan of Shaan and considered him his idol. He also admired AR Rehman and his dream was to sing for him. He was among the top 2 finalists on
Star Voice of India and was crowned the winner of
Star Voice of India on November 24, 2007.
Casting a magic spell on the audience with his medley of Punjabi folk songs, Ishmeet Singh was declared winner of Star's
Voice Of India talent hunt reality show. "The name of the winner is Ishmeet," legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar declared, reading out the name after Bollywood actor Madhuri Dixit Nene opened the envelope, to the delight of the huge crowd at the Andheri Sports Complex on Saturday evening.
Ishmeet received a three-year music contract with Big Music, a cheque for Rs 1 million and a gorgeous red Chevrolet car. "I don't know what to say. I thank God with whose blessings I am here today. This is the biggest day of my life. I will never forget this moment," said Ishmeet, with tears of happiness in his eyes.
After his triumphant ride in
Amul Star Voice of India, Ishmeet returned to Star Plus again, this time in the new musical reality show-
Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar. Ishmeet continued his musical streak winning the hearts of audiences and judges alike in the show. Although he didn't make it to the finals, his popularity buoyed by his golden voice and his pleasant personality, remained unflinching. We mourn the passing away of such a remarkable talent in such an unfortunate and untimely manner.
